The majority of the cases heard in the Village of Lake Success Justice Court involve traffic and parking violations. The Court also has jurisdiction over violations of Village ordinances and other matters that New York State has placed under Village jurisdiction.

Court Hours: The Village of Lake Success Justice Court is usually in session on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month for arraignments, conferences and trials starting at 5:30 PM in the evening in the Courtroom at 15 Vanderbilt Drive, Lake Success.

Office Hours: The Court Clerk’s office hours are usually 9 AM - 1 PM each Monday, Wednesday (except on Court Nights) and Thursday. On Court Nights, office hours are 3 PM - 5 PM.

* STAY ON SERVICE ROAD FOR THREE (3) TRAFFIC LIGHTS, CROSSING OVER LAKEVILLE ROAD - BEAR RIGHT AT FORK ONTO HORACE HARDING BLVD.

* LONG ISLAND EXPRESSWAY EAST (495 E) TO EXIT 32, TOWARD LITTLE NECK PKWY.

* MAKE LEFT ONTO LITTLE NECK PARKWAY

* STAY ON SERVICE ROAD FOR 2 LIGHTS (Golf Station on left). MAKE RIGHT ONTO NASSAU BLVD.

* NASSAU BLVD. BECOMES HORACE HARDING BLVD.

* FOLLOW ROAD (You will be passing a set of stores) 2ND LIGHT YOU WILL SEE VANDERBILT DRIVE.
MAKE A RIGHT ONTO VANDERBILT DRIVE.

* GO TO STOP SIGN AND MAKE A LEFT, PARK THE CAR.

YOU WILL SEE TENNIS COURTS AND THE PARK

 

FAILURE TO TIMELY RESPOND TO A TRAFFIC TICKET WILL RESULT IN THE SUSPENSION OF YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE AND MAY ALSO RESULT IN A WARRANT FOR YOUR ARREST.


If you have received a ticket returnable in the Village of Lake Success Justice Court of Lake Success:

You may respond to your ticket in any of the following ways:

You may plead guilty or not guilty by mail; or
You may appear personally in Court and plead guilty, or guilty with an explanation, or not guilty and have a conference with the Village Prosecutor.

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO CONSULT WITH AN ATTORNEY

You may plead guilty by mail to most offenses.
You are not permitted to plead guilty by mail and you must personally appear if you are charged with

1. A misdemeanor
2. A third or subsequent speeding offense committed within 18 months
3. Any speeding offense where you are charged with exceeding the speed limit by 31 MPH or more, or
4. When you are ordered to appear in Court or when your guilty plea is rejected

To Plead Guilty:
You can plead guilty by mail by completing Part A of your ticket and signing and dating it and mailing it by Certified Mail to the Village of Lake Success Justice Court at 15 Vanderbilt Drive, Lake Success, NY 11020 in time to be received by the Court on or before the appearance date and time indicated on your ticket. You must also include a copy of your driver’s license, your current mailing address, and your certified check or money order made payable to the 'Village of Lake Success Justice Court' for the amount you must pay. Do not mail cash. See the payment schedule listed below for the amount to pay which amount includes the fine amount, the mandatory surcharge where applicable imposed by New York State Law and a $30  Driver Responsibility Fee. You can appear in person at the Village of Lake Success Justice Court on or before the appearance date and time indicated on your ticket and plead guilty or during Court Clerk office hours and pay the amount you owe.

Paying the amount you owe:
If you appear in person, you can also pay with cash (EXACT FINE AMOUNT ONLY. NO CHANGE ISSUED) or your credit card – (Visa or MasterCard only – with photo ID). Please note: THE COURT DOES NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL OR BUSINESS CHECKS unless certified by your bank.

A fine amount will be fixed by the Court for offenses not listed on the Payment Schedule or if the offense charged is not your first offense within an 18 month period or where a different fine amount is mandated by law. The Court has the right to reject any guilty plea by mail and reserves the right to order you to appear personally and levy a different fine amount than that listed on the Payment Schedule.

To Plead Not Guilty:
You can plead not guilty  by mail by completing and signing Part B of your ticket and mailing it Certified Mail to the Village of Lake Success Justice Court at 15 Vanderbilt Drive, Lake Success, NY 11020 in time to be received by the Court on or before the appearance date indicated in your ticket. You must also include a copy of your driver’s license and your current mailing address. You will be notified by mail of your Court date. You can personally appear in Village of Lake Success Justice Court between the hours of 5:30 PM and 7 PM on the appearance date indicated in your ticket to plead not guilty and have a conference with the Village Prosecutor.
